Custom Neon Sign Featured on HGTV's Rock the Block

Our custom neon signs made it to the TV; our manufactured "Balls to the Wall" LED neon sign was featured in HGTV's Rock the Block, Season 7, including episodes 5 and 7, titled "Great Reasons To Be Mad" and "Let's Win This," respectively.

The sign was incorporated into a recreation area that featured one of the more iconic designs of the season: the "Balls to the Wall" pickleball setup. This was placed on the feature wall and helped bring both the design concept and an additional level of character to the room.

Such projects are an example of the importance of the small details in creating a significant environment. Although the custom signage is only one component of the larger project, the right choice can add focus to the concept and become its central element.

Inside HGTV's Rock the Block Season 7

To those who do not know about the TV show, Rock the Block is the most popular renovation competition series of HGTV.

The show features professional designers and renovators whose mission is to remodel houses that look alike into something outstanding. They do this with the aim of making the most attractive house in the neighborhood.

What has made the program so popular is the blend of:

  • Innovative designs
  • Creative solutions
  • Luxurious renovations to homes
  • Healthy rivalry among designers
  • Imaginative settings that homeowners can emulate

Every room matters in the competition. While major renovations often grab attention, the smaller design details frequently become the elements viewers remember most.

That was certainly the case in Season 7's RV garage challenge.

Creating the "Balls to the Wall" Recreation Space

One of the notable areas showcased on HGTV’s Rock the Block season 7 included the "Balls to the Wall" play area, which was first introduced in episode 5, “Great Reasons To Be Mad,” and revisited again in episode 7, "Let's Win This." Designers Scott McGillivray (@scott_mcgillivray) and Brooke Hogan (@mizzhogan) also shared behind-the-scenes glimpses of the installation on Instagram, giving viewers a closer look at how the recreation space came together.

The space was created inside the RV garage and featured an exciting and sports-related theme that caught attention. It had such notable features as:

  • Recreation-oriented design
  • Green accents in the room
  • Pickleball-inspired wall decoration
  • Features associated with the house’s energetic personality

The main attraction of the room was "Balls to the Wall," which was created using pickleballs. The featured wall had textures, colors, and creativity, making it the most outstanding feature of the room.

Our personalized LED neon sign was also integrated within the installation, adding a lit focal point to the room.

The Neon Sign That Brought the Design Together

Interior design is all about finding the perfect balance.

Whereas the pickleball wall made an excellent background, the light-up neon sign made for an excellent complementing piece that completed the whole concept. Being strategically placed within the artwork itself, the piece became the center of attention immediately.

The sign helped:

  • Enhance the playfulness of the room
  • Provided a point of contrast on the wall
  • Added visual depth to the room
  • Provide a contemporary glow
  • Completed the overall concept

One of the reasons that designers continue to use custom neon signs is their capability to combine decoration with functionality. Signs could be used as decorations, accent lighting, and talking points.

For this particular recreation room, the neon sign wasn’t just an accessory but a central point of the story being told.

Why Designers Continue Choosing LED Neon Signs

With all of that said, LED neon signs have been gaining popularity among the people designing memorable spaces.

The attraction lies beyond aesthetic considerations. LED neon signs provide various benefits, including:

  • Modern look
  • Customizable text and font sizes and colors
  • Energy-saving LED technology
  • Durable material
  • Ease of installation
  • Efficient operation
  • Suitable for home and commercial settings

Regardless of whether they are being put up in gaming areas, bars, sports lounges, retail outlets, eating places, or even offices, custom neon signs are useful in making the area feel personal.

Custom neon signs are flexible for designers; they add character to homes while creating memorable experiences for businesses.
